Okarito Lagoon serenity

Okarito lagoon, which is situated approximately 50 kms north of Fox Glacier, is a wildlife paradise and home to New Zealand’s only resident population of white heron. It is also home to over 70 other species of birds, and is surrounded by native bush, rain forest and the backdrop of the Southern Alps.Covering an area of over 12 square kilometres, its is the largest unmodified wetland in the country.
